Zap-Pass Stack Practice 5070020

From Juggling and Passing Patterns Wiki

This is a two-club practice pattern to prepare for a stable Baby Dragon 756 by improving the way you throw a stack.

A stack means that consecutive throws throw to the same hand. Here, we look a the stack of a zap followed by a pass.

You can practice this by just throwing the stack with two clubs - but this actually becomes a 2-club pattern if you do a zip to get the club in the other hand for the next iteration of the pattern:

Pattern Description

The pattern only has two clubs and only consists of throwing a stack: zap from one hand followed by a pass from the other hand, both throws go to the same hand of the other juggler. This is followed by a zip of the incoming zap-club to be able to repeat.

A: straight passes, crossing zaps B: crossing passes, straight zaps

The pass is magic and can be color coded.

Written as siteswaps:

A(1|1): 2.5X   3.5||   0    0    0    0    1
B(0|0):      0    1    2.5||   3.5X   0    0

Zero in siteswap is an empty hand - here written as "wait".

Written as throws:

A(1|1): zap, pass, wait, wait, wait, wait, zip,
B(0|0): wait, wait, zip, zap, pass, wait, wait,
  • Make sure that the pass is nice and floaty, i.e. high but the other juggler does not have to reach up to get it
  • There is few clubs making it easy to make mistakes that do not immediately end the pattern. Make sure all your zaps stay crossing/straight, and that you stick with stacks

Optional Pattern Extensions

  • The pattern can be extended to a 4-club pattern in which both jugglers throw the same sequence: Passing pattern 5577022: animation but this means there is a single empty-hand zero in the pattern, which makes ist pretty hard to juggle.
  • The empty hand can be replaced by another pass, leading to Passing pattern 5577722: animation - which is a Parsnip interrupted by two zaps. See Zaps_and_Passes_(and_Flips)#Five_Clubs
